Applicants must be high school seniors, enrolled full time in a Catholic high school, and entering college for the first time in the next academic year. Students must maintain a minimum grade point average of B or equivalent.
Students obtain applications from their Guidance Counselors, which can be downloaded from this site or requested here by mail. Completed applications must be submitted to the Guidance Department on or before March 21, 2008. All applications must include the Student Application Form, student essay entitled "Why My Family is Important to Me," Student Entrepreneurship Form, Offical School Transcript, and Guidance Counselor Recommendation Form.
The guidance department must nominate only one student to represent the school. If Harris Connect receives more than one application, all entries will be returned. All applications must be postmarked by March 21, 2008 to be included for consideration.
Each year, Harris Connect appoints a Selection Panel to review all entries and determine winners for each region. Selection criteria are based on an illustration of strong family values, entrepreneurship or community commitment, and evidence of academic achievement. Both students and their schools will be notified in writing.
To further support the advancement of Catholic education, Harris Connect will award an additional $1,000 to each of the schools that graduate our scholarship winners. If your student is accepted as one of the recipients of the 2008 Bernard C. Harris Memorial Scholarship, your school will receive a matching gift of $1,000.
