Harris Connect Announces Its Newest Innovations in Advancement Services at CASE Summit 2007
05/08/07
Purchase, NY, July 8, 2007 — Harris Connect, the leader in alumni and membership services for more than four decades, is set to preview two new solutions at this year's CASE Summit in Chicago, Illinois. Available to clients beginning this summer, both of the company's offerings are unique in that they encourage the participation and collaboration with alumni to create lively and useful resources designed to meet the evolving needs of today's progressive end user.
HC2.0
HC2.0 builds off the company's ground breaking online alumni solutions and incorporates the technology of Web 2.0, which has been referred to as the “second-generation” of Web-based services. A fundamental principle of Web 2.0 is that the Internet is a platform and, as such, the sophisticated applications of HC2.0 provide a rich experience to end users and administrators alike. In addition, Web 2.0 applications are dynamic by encouraging user-contributed content, which is consistent with the overall design of HC2.0.
According to Paul Gangi, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at Harris Connect, HC2.0 is just a natural next step for Harris Connect. “From the very beginning, our idea was to engage alumni by taking full advantage of the interactive nature of the Internet. At its core, HC2.0 allows for an entirely new level of online collaboration and sharing among users, with each individual site becoming more interesting and valuable as more and more alumni participate.” At the same time, Gangi explains, Harris Connect remains dedicated to high-quality data and HC2.0 will continue to expand on and simplify processes for administrators to import, export and query data online utilizing secure APIs and Web services.
Gangi continues, “This is really just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what HC2.0 has to offer advancement professionals and their alumni. We are thrilled to be showcasing this next-generation innovation at CASE Summit - this clearly illustrates our commitment to change and evolution as we help advancement professionals strengthen ties and build a foundation for the future.”
Alumni: Today
Developed as a direct result of alumni feedback, Harris Connect is also introducing Alumni: Today -- its next-generation in alumni publications -- at CASE Summit. Bill Harris, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for the company says, “While alumni have long appreciated our traditional directories, today they simply want more and our new Alumni: Today program gives them all they've been asking for.” Specifically, he continues, an Alumni: Today publication combines personal reflections from alumni with the company's proven data research to create a highly entertaining, useful resource.
Essentially, alumni are asked to send in notes on topics such as their fondest school memories and what they are doing today along with photos both old and new. These images and recollections are accompanied by comprehensive, current alumni profiles - resulting in a one-of-a-kind publication that captures the individual personality of each institution. What Harris Connect has found is that the inclusion of more personal detail increases the likelihood of alumni reconnecting with one another.
In addition, Bill Harris says that advancement professionals are able to form deeper, more meaningful relationships with their alumni. “By asking alumni to share in their own words where they are today, our clients gain added insight into who their alumni are and, in many cases, are able to begin a dialogue they may not have had the opportunity to in the past.”
